FTB performance optimization

In this thread i'd like you to post whatever configuration you use to make Minecraft run at a proper speed.

As such i'd like to have you post whatever settings AREN'T at default, any mods you've added to increase performance, and if possible, your computer specifications and the fps you get, as well as any comments on slowdowns, missing chunks, etc.

Please do not insult or in fact comment on anyone's computer as this is a matter completely irrelevant to the objective of this thread.

Detect redstone power level (signal strength) ?

I'm trying to make a pig farm where a Mob Counter will detect if there are more than 4 (or 5) pigs it will activate the slaughterhouse (the opposite for the Breeder). My problem is that the mob counter emits a redstone signal with the strength equal to the number of mobs in its range. I was thinking of using the Programmable RedNet Controller to detect if the signal strength = 4 (or 5, maybe) and then output a redstone signal on another side, but I don't know what function I would use for...

Extracting Mob Essence from Grinder issue

Heyya Guys,

So I just set up a mob grinder from MFR for killing my cows which im getting from a breeder, but I'm having an issue with the Mob Essence. I have the fluid conduits from EnderIO connected to the bottom of my grinder, and then going into the bottom of a 5x5x8 Iron Tank from Railcraft, into one of the valves. The essence is coming out of the grinder into the pipes no problem but aren't actually going into the tank, any idea why this might be happening? View attachment 25158 ...

Issue with Thermal Expansion Energy Cells

Ok guy, I've used Thermal Expansion Energy Cells hundreds of times before and never had an issue, so I don't know if I'm experiencing a bug or a new change but...I have my hardened energy cell at the end of a row of machines that are powered by an 8x lava generator (from extra utilities), as a sort of buffer for all the energy im creating, however, I have the bottom as the input, which is fine, and the back as the output, the hope is that the cell will keep my machines powered, and as it...

Hello everyone. I've been trying to get the universal electricity mods for FTB Ultimate 1.4.7
Yes, I know that modpack is three years old, but I still enjoy playing it and I would like to add in the Universal Electricity mods into it. I know how to handle block ideas, but the problem is that I can't seem to find the download. The website is all adds and the curse doesnload only goes to 1.6.4 and I know there is a 1.4.6/1.4.7 version. Please if someone can help me I would like a link to all...

I get it you guys are trying to make this the best mod pack out, and you would have that title if you would just QUIT messing with the packs. Quit messing with the Item-ID #'s, the game supports thousands of them and you seem to be trying to condense them all between 1-10, and every update you may fix one thing but you break ten more. the newest BS... start a new world in survival make an ME place blank iron turning bars into it and you won't get them back out, they will just hold and waste...

How will this PC run FTB modpacks?

I just ordered the parts for my gaming PC and wanted to know how well I would be able to run FTB Infinity. I chose an i5 4590 and a GTX 960, which is great for gaming, but I've heard that FTB Infinity is a VERY heavy pack that really pulls down fps. I've seen a gtx 970 struggling to keep 45 fps in some situations, but that doesn't make sense to me. Would I be able to max out the video settings or would that be asking for too much?

This is literally the most overpowered thing in 1.7 modded MC. It completely nullifies all kinds of incoming damage, even that which is coded to be armor-piercing. It makes the wearer absolutely unkillable by anything other than a bane of pigs.
It completely obliterates the balance of the Infinity pack, which is otherwise pretty good. I've seen people who had this armor within 24 hours of the server starting which is just utterly wrong on all levels.

I really hope this will be nerfed to...

I'm getting about 20-40 fps in Infinity Evolved with both Fastcraft and Optifine installed and everything set up in options for max fps. This is a single player world, and setting up a server to decrease strain on my pc isnt really an option for me. Here's my specs...

i5 750
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H
8 GB Ram
750W PSU
128 GB SSD
Radeon HD 7870 Black Edition

I've only got $200 to spend, so I dunno if I really can do much to improve with that. From what I understand, upgrading my video card...

Hey guys, I'm one of the (maybe few) people who've been playing FTB since it was released. While I do take long breaks of it a lot, I always end up coming back to try the new modpacks. I've had similar issues with almost every single modpack released however, but FTB Infinity Expert mode seems to solve these. My #1 issue was how the mods would cooperate with eachother as far as progressing towards certain goals in the game, where it was clear that certain mods would allow you to progress to...

Weird never-before-seen redstone torch function

So I'm playing Sky Factory on the Curse launcher, and making an auto living-items setup. As I go to place a redstone torch on a grass block, I hit too many keys at once, and instead of the torch being placed I get this little blue 3x3 grid on top of the block instead. It was slightly smaller than the block side itself, and none of my torches were used.
The reason why I'm describing it instead of showing it is that, like the smart person I am, I immediately broke it to try to get my torch...

Do Enable/Disable NEI can mess up a world?

While NEI can be usefull for fast crafting, research, Tcontruct tool tip and etc. The mod give me occasionaly mouse lag with can be annoying over time.

So if im on a mining or exploration session, i disable it and enable craftguide for basic crafting recipe.

As the title said, can it damage, corrupt or something anything else to my world file by doing this over time?

Mod im Enable/Disable:
NotEnoughItem, CodeChickenCore, Nei Addons, InPureCore for CraftGuide.
